Seeing as though this blog is written by us guys down at Ixpo – who manufacture carbon neutral products – it felt a bit hypocritical that the blog wasn’t officially carbon neutral.
But that has changed now, after we decided to start the ‘Carbon Positive Blog’ initiative. Basically, what we at Ixpo are going to do is plant a tree for each blog that adds one of the buttons to their site.
When we discovered that every blog that receives less than 15,000 hits a month generates somewhere in the region of 3.5kgs of carbon emissions a year (this includes power generated from computer usage, electricity hours and server cooler systems), we thought we could do something about it. And seeing as though a tree can absorb around 10kgs of carbon a year the answer was simple – just plant 1 tree per blog, and that blog will become carbon positive!
You can visit www.ixpo.com/plant-a-tree to get your button.
So if you’ve got a blog, why not grab yourself a button and start saving the planet? It’s free and only takes about 5 minutes to do!
